When the Denver Broncos face the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend, players will recognize one of their former teammates on the opposite sideline.
Australia tight end Thomas Yassmin, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Utah with the Broncos last year, is now a member of the Chargers’ practice squad.

Yassmin (6-5, 251 pounds) was also picked by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a CFL draft last year, but he opted to attend training camp with Denver instead. After failing to make the 53-man roster, he spent his rookie season on the Broncos‘ practice squad. After being cut by Denver in May this spring, Yassmin landed in Los Angeles.
The international tight end only drew one target during preseason with the Chargers this summer and has yet to record a reception in an NFL game (preseason or regular season). He seems unlikely to be elevated from the practice squad to the game-day roster for Week 3, but it’s not uncommon for practice squad players to still roam the sidelines during games.
So Denver players can have a reunion with Yassmin on Sunday, but it will likely be during pregame or postgame as the 25-year-old tight end is unlikely to play in the AFC West showdown.
