The San Francisco 49ers have completed their 2025 NFL Draft by selecting Montana wide receiver Junior Bergen, who measured in at 5’10, 184 pounds.

Bergen wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine. At Montana’s Pro Day, he ran a 4.52 40, which would have been 30th among all wideouts at the Combine. His short shuttle time was 4.22, which would have been 9th among receivers at the NFL Combine. His 17 reps on the bench press would have been good for third among receivers.

The 49ers were among 13 teams to visit Missoula and watch Bergen at his Pro Day. I think it’s telling that the Niners used a seventh-round pick on him, as they did not want to run the risk of Bergen becoming an undrafted free agent.

Bergen finished the 2024 season with 49 receptions on 70 targets for 542 yards and three touchdowns. As a junior, Bergen caught 46 passes for 698 yards and four touchdowns.

His expertise appears to be on special teams. He averaged 21.6 yards on 21 kickoff returns. Bergen returned 10 punts for 240 yards, including three touchdowns. Two of those came in one game. That’ll likely be how Bergen sneaks onto the 49ers roster.
