Tom Brady revealed that his favorite touchdown pass as a member of the New England Patriots was one born out of competition, with the 48-year-old’s fiery nature immortalized outside of Gillette Stadium in the form of a statue.

Brady played for the Patriots from 2000 to 2019, with the star quarterback making memories of all kinds en route to winning six Super Bowl titles. The star won one more title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 before retiring for good in 2023.

Considering how long he played and how successful he’s been in his career, Brady has many memorable touchdowns to his name, though one in particular stood out to him. The moment came against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with franchise legend Terry Bradshaw sharing how his view of the star has changed over the years.

Back in 2023, Brady took to his personal Threads account and asked fans what their favorite touchdown of his was when he played in New England. To start off the conversation, Brady stated that his touchdown against the Steelers in 2007 was his favorite.

Before that particular game, Anthony Smith, one of Pittsburgh’s safeties, told reporters that he was guaranteeing a win over New England when the two sides clashed. “The guys I’m playing with, you know, we got a great D-line, great linebacker corps, and a great DB. You know, we’re number one across the board,” he began.

“Yeah, we’re gonna win as long as we come out and do what we’re supposed to do. You know, they got explosive offense, so if we don’t give them any big plays and, you know, eliminate the dumb mistakes, I think we will win the game.”

When the game got underway, Brady was quick to prove that Smith’s declaration was false. The quarterback quickly found star Randy Moss for a 63-yard touchdown on a play that saw the star wideout beat Smith in space.

Then in the third quarter, Brady threw the pass back to Moss, who then threw the ball back to the quarterback. Once he had the ball, Brady then unleashed a 56-yard pass to wideout Jabar Gaffney, who ended up in the endzone just past Smith.

The Patriots took home the easy win, 34-13, en route to an undefeated season, and after the game, Brady explained that he was fired up and motivated after Smith’s comments. Overall,

Of note, the signal caller went out of his way to seek out Smith after the first touchdown, with the two exchanging words afterward, causing players from both teams to separate the two before the situation escalated.

“I don’t care to repeat what I said, especially if my mother reads it,” Brady said of the incident. “She wouldn’t be very happy.”

Then Patriots head coach Bill Belichick also chimed in on the incident, claiming that Smith had no right to talk in the way that he did. “We’ve played against a lot better safeties than him, I’ll tell you,” Belichick added. “The safety play at that position was pretty inviting.”

The Patriots are set to take on the Steelers in Week 3 at Gillette Stadium.
