The Seattle Seahawks signed safety Jerrick Reed II to their 53-man roster and elevated safety D’Anthony Bell and running back Jacardia Wright from the practice squad ahead of their Week 3 matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Seahawks Injury Report: 4 players doubtful vs Saints, including Charbonnet

The moves come after Seattle listed running back Zach Charbonnet (foot), Pro Bowl safety Julian Love (hamstring), two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) as doubtful on Friday’s injury report.

Bell and Reed give the Seahawks some depth at safety. If Love and Emmanwori are both unable to play Sunday, then some combination of Bell, Reed and Ty Okada would serve as Seattle’s second and third safeties behind starter Coby Bryant.

This is Bell’s second straight week being elevated from the practice squad. Last week, he was elevated to help fill in for Emmanwori as the Seahawks’ third safety. Bell played 12 defensive snaps as the third safety, while Okada played nine snaps.

Reed, a 2023 sixth-round draft pick by Seattle, has been limited by injuries in each of his first two NFL seasons. He has appeared in 15 games, logging 34 defensive snaps and 237 special teams snaps.

If Charbonnet is sidelined, Wright would serve as the Seahawks’ third running back behind Kenneth Walker III and George Holani. Wright, an undrafted rookie out of Missouri State, initially sign with Seattle in May. He had a strong preseason campaign, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries – including a 61-yard gain in the preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.

A player can be elevated from the practice squad three times before he must be signed to the 53-man roster in order to play.
