Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has not had an ideal start to his New York Giants tenure, and it seems he is already in danger of losing his starting job.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll was not willing to guarantee Wilson will be the team’s starter as early as this week.

“We’re working through all personnel decisions and we’ll do that over the next few days,” Daboll said when asked if Wilson will remain the starter moving forward, via ESPN insider Adam Schefter. “We’re going through the tape right now. We’re evaluating everything.”

Wilson, 36, is off to one of the worst starts of his 14-year NFL career, completing just 65 of his 110 pass attempts (59.1%) for 778 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions while leading New York to a disappointing 0-3 start to the season.

The 10-time Pro Bowler’s decline in play may not be a surprise to Steelers fans who watched him lead their team to an 0-5 finish last season, during which he threw for 968 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.

However, Pittsburgh should hope the Giants don’t turn to first-round pick Jaxson Dart quite yet because it would likely lose yet another compensatory draft pick.

Luckily, Daboll doesn’t seem to be close to making a decision.

“I’m not saying who’s starting and who’s not starting. I’m just saying we’re evaluating everything right now,” Daboll continued. “We’re going through the tape from yesterday and we’re evaluating every position right now.”

If that is the case, Wilson will likely get another opportunity to prove he still deserves to be New York’s starter against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. His leash is certainly getting shorter, though.
