Miami Dolphins rookies say they’ve experienced plenty of “welcome to the NFL moments” since being drafted two weeks ago, but on Friday, the real fun began with the first rookie mini-camp practice. For first-round pick Kenneth Grant, it came just hours after signing his first professional contract.“It was real crazy just looking at the contract and all the stuff in there, but it was surreal. Just a dream come true, but it’s time to work,” Grant said. The first-year players are quickly realizing there is no time to waste to get up to speed with the playbook and the speed of the NFL game. “Man, this is like a dream come true. Just being in the league and knowing that this is our job now for you. It’s not like a regular practice; you’re here to take someone’s job. So just having that mindset and being in this organization, being around great people, I’m just excited to get going,” said third-round pick Guard Jonah Savaiinaea.University of Texas Quarterback Quinn Ewers fell to the 7th round in the draft and as the 14th Quarterback drafted, he not so subtly is wearing #14.“I didn’t expect to fall as low as I did, but circumstances being, it is what it is at the end of the day, and I have the same opportunity as everybody else does, and I’m beyond thankful for that. And I just want to go in there and play my game at the end of the day and learn and develop as a quarterback,” Ewers said. The full Miami Dolphins team will hit the practice field on May 28 for an OTA session, and then the mandatory mini-camp begins on June 10.
