The Texas football team can now start planning for life in the Southeastern Conference over the next four seasons.
On Tuesday evening, the SEC revealed who Texas will battle in conference play through the 2029 season. Starting next year, the SEC will have its teams start playing nine conference games instead of eight.
As expected, Texas will face Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M every season. On3 reported earlier this week that those three schools have been designated as UT’s permanent rivals, and that news was confirmed during Tuesday’s hourlong SEC Network telecast.
2026: Arkansas, at Texas A&M, Oklahoma (Dallas), Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, at LSU, at Missouri, at Tennessee
2027: at Arkansas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma (Dallas), Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, at Alabama, at South Carolina, at Vanderbilt
2028: Arkansas, at Texas A&M, Oklahoma (Dallas), at Florida, at Ole Miss, at Mississippi State, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee
2029: at Arkansas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma (Dallas), at Auburn, at Georgia, at Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, Vanderbilt
After going 7-1 in conference play and reaching the SEC championship game during its league debut last season, Texas will open SEC play for its 2025 campaign on Oct. 4 at Florida. Last season, UT did not play Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee and those teams do not appear on the Longhorns’ schedule this season either. Under this new scheduling plan, Texas will play all 15 of its SEC rivals over the next two seasons.
