Daniel Jones has gotten a second (third?) chance with the Indianapolis Colts, and it’s paying dividends for both.

Jones is third in the NFL in passing yards (816) through Week 3, completing 71.6% of his throws with 0 interceptions while guiding the unbeaten Colts‘ No. 2-ranked offense. He also has 3 rushing TDs.

When will Jones’ production fall off? ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter isn’t sure it will.

“I don’t think that shoe’s gonna drop,” he said on his podcast. “That’s how it feels right now.”

Schefter said Jones’ name belongs alongside several QBs who have become rejuvenated with new teams: Geno Smith with the Las Vegas Raiders; Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Sam Darnold with the Minnesota Vikings (and now Seattle Seahawks), and Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions.

Jones played most of his first six seasons with the New York Giants, who cut him during the 2024 season. He signed with the Vikings later that season but did not see the field. He signed a one-year contract with the Colts in the spring.

“It feels like Daniel Jones is on that same trajectory: Getting another chance in another city with another imaginative, creative, progressive-thinking head coach in Shane Steichen,” Schefter said. “They turned Daniel Jones into the newest and best reclamation project in the NFL. They salvaged his career. They have saved jobs in Indianapolis through the early part of the season. And they’ve become one of the best stories in all of football. And it’s thanks to Danny Dimes.”
