The Denver Broncos made a surprise move last summer when they released inside linebacker Jonas Griffith as part of their cuts to get down to a 53-man roster in 2024.

Three days after he was released, Griffith announced that he was undergoing ACL surgery on the same knee that he injured ahead of the 2023 season. Denver retroactively reached an injury settlement with the linebacker.

Now, just over a year after he was cut by the Broncos, Griffith seems to be healthy again as he has been getting looks from NFL teams. Following a workout with the Cleveland Browns this spring, Griffith had a tryout with the New York Giants earlier this week, according to the NFL’s transaction wire. Griffith last played in an NFL game on Nov. 13, 2022, which was his final regular-season appearance in Denver.

After entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Indiana State with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020, Griffith was traded to the Broncos during the 2021 offseason. He appeared in 22 games over two seasons, earning 12 starts. Griffith totaled 92 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup during his time in Denver.

Approaching three years since his last NFL appearance, Griffith will aim to break back into the league this fall.
