The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not strangers to making trades that involve head coaches. They did it when they got Jon Gruden from the then-Oakland Raiders before he led them to a Super Bowl.

Fast forward over 20 years, and now one analyst is suggesting the team make a trade involving a head coach once again. However, this time they are telling the Bucs to send away a former coach of theirs who retired.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay wrote a piece on one trade each winless team could make to jumpstart their season. For the Bucs, they, of course, are undefeated, but he has them trading away Bruce Arians to the Miami Dolphins. The former head coach is poised to help his alma mater, Virginia Tech, find its next coach. It seems he is happily retired, but he suggests the Dolphins send the Bucs a fourth-round pick for Arians.

He writes, “Although it’s unclear what Arians current contract situation is with the Buccaneers, he stepped down ahead of the 2022 season and moved into a consulting role with the organization. If the Dolphins are serious about winning, they should make Arians an offer to return to the sidelines that he wouldn’t be able to refuse.”

Kay acknowledges that the Bucs are not likely to make this move, nor the Dolphins, but it is still worth throwing the hypothetical out there.
