The Denver Broncos added more depth to their secondary on Wednesday.

After promoting fullback Adam Prentice from the practice squad to the active roster, Denver filled Prentice’s former spot on the practice squad by signing defensive back A.J. Woods, the team announced.

Woods (5-9, 186 pounds) entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh with the Washington Commanders in 2024. After failing to make D.C.’s 53-man roster, Woods joined the Philadelphia Eagles‘ practice squad. He spent all of last season on Philly’s practice squad and received a ring after the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX.

Woods failed to make Philly’s active roster last month and was waived during roster cuts. He’ll now get an opportunity to continue his NFL career with the Broncos. The 24-year-old defensive back totaled 25 pass breakups, four interceptions and two sacks in five seasons (59 games) at Pitt.
