Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Travis Etienne Jr. is a hot name to monitor leading up to the Nov. 4 trade deadline, and there would be no shortage of teams interested in his services.
The Jaguars have already made one surprise running back move this month, trading Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles for fifth and sixth-round picks in 2026. The move cemented Etienne as the starting RB in Jacksonville, at least for now.
Travis Etienne is in the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. If the Jaguars (2-1) don’t feel good about their playoff chances, it only makes sense to deal Etienne rather than lose him for nothing in 2026 free agency.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano recently listed Etienne as a top trade deadline candidate, citing their investments in rookies Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen Jr. Tuten stood out with 74 total yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
If Etienne hits the trade block, the Kansas City Chiefs stand out as the ideal landing spot for the 2021 first-round pick. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the leading Chiefs rusher with 125 yards, with Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt averaging under four yards per carry.
What Chiefs Could Offer Jaguars For Travis Etienne Jr.
The Chiefs’ offense has been lackluster at best through three weeks, though reinforcements are on the way with wide receivers Xavier Worthy (sidelined with a shoulder injury) and Rashee Rice (serving a six-game suspension) set to return soon.
But the Chiefs must address the ground game if they’re to hang with the top AFC clubs, and both Hunt and Pacheco have failed to cut it. A two-time 1,000-yard rusher, Etienne is on pace for over 1,500 yards (270 in three games).
Kansas City should offer Jacksonville a conditional 2026 fourth-round pick that can become a third, depending on Etienne’s playing time, and a 2027 fifth-round pick. And if Etienne fares well in KC, there’s no reason for them to not extend him ahead of free agency.
