Newly signed Indianapolis Colts’ cornerback Mike Hilton expects to see playing time right away on defense this week.
As Kenny Moore works through an injury he sustained in Sunday’s win over Tennessee, the Colts bolstered their nickel cornerback depth by signing Hilton to the practice squad.

Both Shane Steichen and Lou Anarumo left the door open for Hilton to play this week, but both also added that they want to see how he looks in practice this week as well.
Hilton spent training camp with Miami, but after being released during roster cutdowns, he hasn’t caught on with a new team until now.
However, if you ask Hilton, he doesn’t only expect to play, but from the sounds of it, he expects to see his fair share of snaps.
“I might not play every snap, but I expect to play a good bit,” Hilton said via Joel Erickson of the Indy Star.
Helping Hilton hit the ground running is his familiarity with Anarumo’s defense after spending multiple seasons in Cincinnati with the now-Colts’ defensive coordinator.

Over his eight-year career, Hilton has allowed a completion rate of 70.4% at 10.2 yards per catch with strong ball production, accumulating 14 interceptions and 36 pass breakups, per PFF.
“Good news is he did have a preseason somewhat at Miami,” Anarumo said. “Not a ton but at least he did some things. We’ll see where he’s at. We still got to evaluate him, but the good news is Mike knows that he’s done it for a long tiem. He’s been a high level player, so we’ll see.”
Another option at the nickel for the Colts is Mekhi Blackmon.
