This weekend’s winless battle between the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans should be a good opportunity to cash in on a few tendencies.

The Titans (0-3) and Texans (0-3) face off at NRG Stadium in Houston on Sept. 28 (noon CT, CBS). Per BetMGM sportsbook, the Titans are 7-point underdogs against their also-winless division rival, unsurprising given the Titans’ nine-game losing streak dating back to last December, the unrest within the Titans that led to the team trading a young starter and switching offensive play callers this week and the Texans’ dwindling status as a team coming off back-to-back playoff berths.

But there’s more fun to be had when talking about this game than just predicting the winner. Here are five Titans-Texans bets that make sense heading into the weekend.

Texans vs Titans prop bets: 5 recommendations for AFC South showdown1. Under 38.5 points (-110)

The over-under points total is set at 38.5 per BetMGM. That means you need a winning team to score 20+ points. The Texans topped out at 19 this year in their best game, and the Titans topped out at 20. That gets you to 39 if both teams match their season bests. Don’t see that happening.

2. Titans score touchdown on first drive (+500)

New offensive play caller Bo Hardegree is going to want to make his mark. The Texans don’t have much tape to go off of with regards to Hardegree’s tendencies. Don’t expect the Titans to pile up a whole bunch of touchdowns, but don’t be shocked if the early plans work better than the ones late in the game.

3. A team will score in the final 2 minutes of the 1st half (-210)

Not a great value bet here, but given the Titans’ theatrics to end the first half each of the first three weeks, this feels like a safe trend to bet on. Whether it’s because the Titans do something remarkable like Cam Ward’s circus throw for a TD in Week 2, or the Titans create their own miscues like in Weeks 1 and 3, points are liable to come.

4. Joey Slye total points over 5.5 (-120)

Slye’s already attempted a league-leading 12 field goals this season. The way this Titans’ offense has struggled in the red zone makes Slye a prime contender to try multiple kicks just about every game this year. Take the points here.

5. Chig Okonkwo over 30.5 receiving yards (-115)

Okonkwo, believe it or not, is the Titans’ leading receiver to start 2025. Given the way Houston’s pass rush should keep Ward unsettled, the deep shots to Calvin Ridley might not be there. So the safety net of throwing to Okonkwo, who’s caught 12 of his 16 targets this season, could be plenty active, especially if the Titans need to throw plenty late in the game.
