THE NFL’s new kickoff rule ended the Arizona Cardinals’ chances against the Seattle Seahawks last night.

Jonathan Gannon’s Cardinals could not complete their dramatic comeback as the Seahawks won 23-20.

A botched kickoff saw the Cardinals’ epic fourth quarter push stopped in its tracks.

Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, 23, was then flagged for holding as the visitors were denied a chance to extend their lead.

The Cardinals were 20-6 down as Marvin Harrison Jr., 23, scored a touchdown with less than six minutes remaining.

This sparked what was almost a comeback for the ages.

Running back Emari Demercado, 26, then rushed to draw the teams level with just 28 seconds remaining on the game clock.

This comes after first-choice running back James Conner, 30, suffered a horror injury last week against the San Francisco 49ers.

Demercado’s score looked set to send the game into overtime.

However, a botched kickoff handed the Seahawks victory.

Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland, 25, struck a low and short kickoff to restart the game.

As per the NFL‘s new dynamic kickoff rules, an attempt must reach the landing zone between the 20-yard line and the goal line.

This rule has proven controversial, with President Donald Trump lashing out against the latest update.

The Seahawks were then awarded the ball on their own 40-yard line.

Quarterback Sam Darnold, 28, connected with Smith-Njigba before Zach Charbonnet, 24, rushed to set up the win.

Seahawks placekicker Jason Myers, 34, then launched a 52-yard field goal to steal victory.

They fell 16-15 against the 49ers last week as Eddy Piñeiro, 30, slotted a last-play field goal.

The Seahawks have become accustomed to benefitting from botched kickoffs.

In Week 2, rookie Pittsburgh Steelers returner Kaleb Johnson, 22, let the ball bounce into the end zone.

This allowed the Seahawks to pounce on the loose ball for an easy touchdown.

The Cardinals now sit bottom of the NFC West with two wins and two losses, while the Seahawks are second.
