Matt Schuckman has served as the editor of Muddy River Sports since launching the site in August 2021, following a decorated career as sports writer and columnist for the Quincy Herald-Whig. Schuckman has been honored 13 times in the Associated Press Sports Editors national writing contest and earned more than 50 awards for his writing from the Illinois Press Association, Illinois AP Media Editors and the Missouri Press Association. He was inducted into the Quincy Blue Devils Sports Hall of Fame and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2020. He received the IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award in 2023. Schuckman also is the the author of “Stand Up and Cheer: A Century of Blue Devils Basketball,” chronicling the first 100 years of the Quincy High School boys basketball program.
