The 2025 NFL schedule will be released on May 14, but the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys may already know who they’ll face in Week 1.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was speaking to his rookies at minicamp last week and appeared to let it slip that the two teams will face off in Week 1.
“We need you to be smart and come in here and dig and go for it and get it out so we can line up against the Giants Week…” Jones said. “Can you do that?”
The rookies replied, “Yes, sir.”
“And you’re doing it for all of us when you do it. Congratulations on being a Dallas Cowboy. I’m very proud of you. Put your name on that script,” Jones finished.
Jones trailed off as if he caught himself before saying Week 1, but the implication is there.
The last time these two teams faced off in Week 1, the Giants were on the wrong end of a game where everything that could go wrong, did. A 40-0 blowout with multiple turnovers and a completely blindsided Giants team that never recovered was the result of opening the 2023 season against the Cowboys.
We’ll find out in four days if Jones spilled the beans or not.
