The Chicago Bears brought in former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to help maximize the potential of young quarterback Caleb Williams. Johnson and Williams got their first win of the season last weekend against the Dallas Cowboys.

Chicago and Williams are looking to build on the momentum on Sunday, when they face off against Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders, who are still trying to find their groove. Unfortunately for the second-year quarterback, it’s looking like he’ll have to make due without one of his top receiving threats, according to one prominent league insider.

“Bears TE Colston Loveland is not expected to play Sunday vs. the Raiders due to his hip injury, per source. Bears elevated tight end Stephen Carlson from their practice squad for Sunday’s game at Las Vegas,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“There won’t be half the team left. I hope they recover after the bye,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“The Bears literally said he was fine. But no he’s hurt more than expected. Unless they want to give him 2 weeks off since the bye week is next week,” one fan added.

“Again….I hope Loveland doesn’t become a lemon. Because it feels like he may be that,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see how Williams does without Loveland on Sunday.
