NFL officials missed a clear roughing the passer call on Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward via a hit from a former Titans linebacker on the first drive of Tennessee’s game against the Houston Texans.
Ward was drifting out of the pocket on third down in Houston territory, and let the pass go before being hit in the face and helmet by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

No flag was thrown, and the Titans had to settle for a 41-yard field goal attempt that was missed by Joey Slye.
Al-Shaair has started to earn a reputation as a player that pushes the envelope with rough hits on players. Last season, Al-Shaair was suspended three games for a late hit on a sliding Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Ward was not injured on the play, but this was a clear miss of a clear personal foul penalty by the officiating crew led by Brad Rogers.
