Week 4 of the NFL season is here for the New Orleans Saints, as they are set to take on one of the league’s most prolific teams as they head to Highmark Stadium to battle the Buffalo Bills. This is no doubt going to be a tough matchup for the Saints to gain traction in, as they come in 0-3 against a 3-0 squad, but there will likely be plenty to watch in terms of quality football plays. Whether that be for or against New Orleans remains yet to be seen, however.

Check out the highlights from this Week 4 matchup here:

Josh Allen extends Buffalo’s lead with 5-yard TD run

The Bills offense kept the Saints defense on its heels in the second half, with Allen leading a nine-play, 80-yard drive. He capped it with a 5-yard touchdown run on a keeper, giving the Bills a comfortable lead. Bills 21, Saints 10

Kellen Moore calls a trick play he’d like to have back

Yikes, man. Moore dialed up a Philly Special that ended up in the other team’s hands. And it wasn’t necessary. The Saints were on third-and-goal from the 6-yard line, trailing by four points, and they could have at least settled for a chip-shot field goal on the next down. Instead they created a disaster.

Blake Grupe hits a 54-yard field goal to tighten it up

Grupe bounced back after a couple of bad misses in recent weeks with a 54 yarder, pushing the long-range field goal through the uprights. It wasn’t perfectly placed down the middle, but it had plenty of leg behind it, and we’ll take it. Bills 14, Saints 10.

Rookie safety Jonas Sanker comes through with a clutch INT

Now that’s what you want to see. Right after he made a beautiful pass breakup on a deep shot to tight end Dawson Knox, Sanker popped up again on the next play, and this time he took the ball away. Sanker must have been fired up from his Virginia alma mater’s double-overtime win over Florida State. It’s just a shame the Saints couldn’t take advantage of the takeaway by going three-and-out.

Bills strike back to retake the lead

This is turning into a boat race. The Bills moved downfield quickly with a couple of big passes before setting up running back James Cook for a physical run at the goal line. The New Orleans secondary needs to compete on these passes or bench some guys to find players who will. Bills 14, Saints 7.

Kendre Miller responds with an impressive TD run

Good on Kendre Miller. The third-year running back scored his third career touchdown on an 18-yard dash through the heart of the Buffalo defense, breaking a couple of tackles along the way. It’s exactly what we need to see from him. We wrote earlier in the week about how a vulnerable Bills run defense could give the Saints an opening, and that was before they ruled out a couple of starters on the injury report. Beyond winning this game, Miller’s emergence would go a long way to helping turn the Saints’ fortunes this year. He needs to keep it up. Bills 7, Saints 7.

Bills strike first with a 43-yard touchdown

Everything about this play was bad from the New Orleans defense. Veteran linebacker Demario Davis got hands on wide receiver Khalil Shakir after the catch but couldn’t bring him down; the wideout kept his legs churning and burst into the open field, with rookie safety Jonas Sanker trying and failing to tackle him. It all started when cornerback Isaac Yiadom got blocked out of the play, setting up an easy screen pass for Josh Allen. Bills 7, Saints 0.

Saints win the coin toss, defer to the second half

It’s always good to start the day with a win. The Saints called tails, won the toss, and decided they would rather have Josh Allen and the Bills offense take the field first. Spencer Rattler and the New Orleans offense will try to dictate terms to begin the second half.

Each team preemptively ruled out two players this week; the Saints will be without defensive end Chase Young (calf) and offensive lineman Dillon Radunz (toe), while the Bills are missing defensive tackle Ed Oliver (ankle) and linebacker Matt Milano (pectoral). Buffalo also listed right tackle Spencer Brown (calf) and defensive end AJ Epenesa (pectoral) as questionable. FOr New Orleans, wide receiver Devaughn Vele (hip) is questionable to play.
