With the 56th pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have selected offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo.
Chicago acquired this pick after a trade with the Buffalo Bills, also picking up 62 (2nd round) and 109 (4th round), and they gave up picks 41, 72 (3rd round), and 240 (7th round). The trade chart math is close to a break even.
Ozzy is a massive human being at 6’8’’, 316 pounds, and he has experience at both tackle spots. His frame likely lends itself to adding some more weight and strength to withstand some of the power he’ll be facing in the NFL. At this point in his development, he’s a better pass blocker than a run blocker, but some scouts believe he has starting ability as a rookie.
With the Bears, he’ll likely be in the mix at left tackle with returning starter Braxton Jones, and his experience makes him a possibility at swing tackle in 2025.
We’ll record an immediate reaction podcast about the selection, so check that out right here as soon as it publishes from our 2nd City Gridiron channels.
