Dan Campbell’s locker room speech after the Detroit Lions’ Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday felt different than most winning games.

Sure, there were lots of “man’s” and lots of “alright’s.” But the excitement was tempered and the tone was serious.

“We had a big win the other night, short week,” Campbell said at Ford Field. “We had to get back, and we did what we had to do, now it wasn’t good enough if I am being totally honest with you.

“There’s so many areas where we shot ourselves in the foot and we cannot do that. OK, I’m just being honest. Now that’s not going to ruin our (expletive) Sunday. Alright, or the rest of the week, I can promise you that.”

“Proud of you guys for the win itself, alright,” Campbell finished.

ANALYSIS: Hutchinson and Lions defense shows might with fearsome performance vs Browns

Two game balls were given out. First to defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who said: “I’m blessed to be back with you boys.”

Hutch scared us during the game when he lingered on the ground a little bit too long after a hit by Browns‘ Jerome Ford during the game. He said postgame he had the wind knocked out of him.

The second game ball went to wide receiver Kalif Raymond, who gave the football right to his wife in the stands immediately after he reached the end zone on a punt return touchdown.

“It was grimy out there,” Raymond said after receiving his game ball. “We been choppin’ at the tree for the last four games, man, we finally popped one.”

“Continue to chop wood,” he said during the team breakdown at the end usually handled by quarterback Jared Goff. “That griminess? That’s who we are.”
