The Seattle Seahawks picked up a critical victory on Thursday Night Football, beating their NFC West division rival Arizona Cardinals 23-20. Jason Myers connected with a last-second game-winning field goal from 52 yards. Lost in the storyline was the usage and performance of rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo.

Arroyo recorded two receptions for a season-best 44 yards. His 32-yard grab was a career-high reception, his second explosive gain of the young season. It was a jump-ball reception on a scramble drill, as Arroyo continues earning Sam Darnold’s trust on offense.

In the second quarter, Arroyo drew a defensive pass interference penalty in the end-zone. It was a 16-yard penalty that occurred on 2nd-and-long from the Cardinals‘ 17-yard line. It led to a one-yard rushing TD for Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet.

Arroyo played a season-high 36 snaps versus the Cardinals. It marked the first time this season he’s been on the field for more than 50 percent of Klint Kubiak’s offensive snaps (55%). Arroyo’s influence in Kubiak’s offense is growing.

Arroyo has flashed playmaking ability when targeted in the passing game. Darnold is spreading the ball around, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, AJ Barner, and Tory Horton all making plays. Arroyo looks ready to join the supporting cast in a meaningful way.
