New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers left Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers on a cart and reportedly was feared to have sustained a torn ACL.
The Giants confirmed the worst on Monday and announced that Nabers will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Nabers suffered the injury on a deep pass from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart down the right sideline and immediately grabbed at his right leg in pain.
Athletic trainers briefly tended to Nabers on the field before quickly making the decision to call out the cart. Nabers’ teammates converged around him in support before he left the field riding on the back of the cart.
The injury took place on a free play for the Giants. The Chargers jumped offsides before the snap, and Dart looked to Nabers on the deep ball on third-and-10.
Nabers jumped to challenge cornerback Cam Hart for the ball. He appeared to sustain the injury while planting his right foot into the turf at MetLife Stadium.

The injury is a significant blow to the Giants and, of course, Nabers. A first-round selection in the 2024 Draft, Nabers is one of football’s most talented young players and New York’s top weapon on offense.

He tallied 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in a sensational rookie season that earned Pro Bowl honors despite playing on a stagnant offense. Sunday’s game was his first time playing with Dart, who was making his first start since the Giants selected him in the first round of April’s NFL Draft.
The Giants are hoping that Dart and Nabers can develop into an impact pass-and-catch tandem. Those plans are now on hold.
