The Dallas Cowboys didn’t come away with a Week 4 win, but Stephen Jones still delivered some praise for a few of the team’s key playmakers.

Jones had particularly positive things to say about the outings quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver George Pickens had against Green Bay on Sunday night. Prescott led Dallas’ offense with 319 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Pickens came down with eight catches for 134 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

During his latest appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM), Jones said the Cowboys were confident in Pickens’ abilities since he first stepped into the team’s facilities.

“He’s got great upside and made big plays ever since he walked into the NFL. Certainly, he just did a great job. I think everybody was a little shell-shocked when we lost CeeDee [Lamb] last week. Those guys worked as a unit, and I think he was a little down to see his main guy get injured there,” Jones said. “As you could see [Sunday] night, he stepped up in a big way. The guy’s got some very unique ability in terms of tracking balls, catching balls and making big plays.”

Jones also pointed out how Prescott found success by getting the ball out of his hands before Micah Parsons and other Green Bay pass rushers could make a play. The Cowboys’ chief operating officer and co-owner was asked how he reacted when Prescott found receiver Jalen Tolbert for a crucial catch near the sideline in overtime.

“I thought [Prescott] was throwing it out of bounds, and there comes Tolbert back and drags his feet. By the way, what a hell of a play by Tolbert, too, to get his feet in and make that. Both of them just made great plays there,” Jones said. “It was a holy you-know-what play.”

Here’s a look at other highlights from Jones’ latest radio appearance:

What were your thoughts on the offensive tackles’ performance against Micah Parsons and Green Bay’s pass rushers?

Jones: “I thought they did a great job. I mean, obviously, Micah is an elite player and we had a lot of things going on there with him in terms of different ways to show him different looks with some of the chipping and the double teams that we were doing. He’s a great one, but I thought our tackles showed up. I think [Terence] Steele did some really nice things, and it’s great to have Nate Thomas getting his feet wet in a game, especially one of that magnitude. I know it’s unfortunate that he had the alignment issue, but he’ll get that straight.”

James Houston forced a turnover. What are your early thoughts on him?

Jones: “Well, he’s doing everything that’s asked of him. Obviously, his superpower is to rush the passer. That’s what he’s really good at. But I’ll tell you what, he shows up in other places. I mean, he’ll cover kicks on special teams. Nothing’s beneath him. He just gets out there and plays football, and we’re fortunate to have him. But what a great play, and certainly a big reason as to why we won the game — how we tied the game.

“That’s a huge play he makes there, and certainly we were needing momentum in that first half. We were reeling a little bit, but you could feel the momentum coming our way, and the finish with two touchdowns there at the end of the half was huge.”
