Faced with injuries to both starting outside cornerbacks, the Detroit Lions are bolstering the depth chart at the position. As first reported by Aaron Wilson, the Lions are signing veteran starter Tre Flowers to the team’s practice squad.

Flowers, not to be confused with the former Lions EDGE, will join the Lions practice squad when the team returns to the practice field on Wednesday. The 30-year-old Flowers was last with the Chicago Bears during the preseason but was released at the roster cutdowns.

Flowers is best known for his early NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks. A 2018 fifth-round pick out of Oklahoma State, Flowers played both safety and cornerback in four years with Seattle. He made 40 starts before losing his role midway through the 2021 season. Flowers has since bounced around the league with several teams, including the Bengals, Falcons, Jaguars and Colts.

The Lions can use the depth, with D.J. Reed sidelined with a hamstring injury and Terrion Arnold working through a bad shoulder.
