Former Miami Dolphins star Jason Taylor had an awkward moment on camera with his wife Monica during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast on Sept. 29

Former NFL star Jason Taylor and his wife Monica weren’t ready for the cameras during Monday Night Football.

As the Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets 27-21 on Monday, Sept. 29 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, ESPN cameras spotted Taylor, 51, in a suite with his wife, who was sitting on the Hall-of-Famer’s lap as they watched the game.

The couple appeared to be taken by surprise upon realizing they were on camera and Monica quickly jumped off of Taylor and took her own seat. They went on to have an animated conversation with another person who was not shown on screen.

At one point, Taylor, who was supporting his former team and his son Mason, who now plays for the Jets, awkwardly laughed before he appeared to remove something from his wife’s shoulder.

Taylor, the NFL’s 2006 Defensive Players of the Year, appeared to shake off the unexpected PDA and enjoy the game after the moment.

Some users, however, caught on to the awkward exchange during the broadcast without realizing Monica is Taylor’s wife, and likened the clip to former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot’s viral kiss cam scandal at one of Coldplay’s Boston shows in July. “Jason Taylor just got caught red-handed lmao,” one user wrote.

“Uhh it’s literally his wife but still don’t know why she jumped like that,” said another.

The former Dolphins star married Monica, the founder of “modern-day sleepwear” line Monuit, on Aug. 18, 2020.

In an anniversary post just one month before their viral Monday Night Football moment, Monica called Taylor her “soulmate” and said his “loyalty, support, love, and protection are beyond anything I could’ve dreamt of.”

They share one son, Jordan Paul Taylor, born on July 30, 2021. In her announcement post on Instagram, Monica said the “next chapter” of their lives had just begun, and that she and her husband are “crazy in love with” their son.
