The Washington Commanders were back on the practice fields in Ashburn on Saturday for Day 2 of rookie minicamp. The minicamp opened on Friday but was held inside the team’s practice bubble, with no media availability.
On Saturday, various media were in Ashburn to see Washington’s rookies—and those in camp on a tryout basis—rock the burgundy and gold for the first time.
Washington’s five-man draft class, 10 undrafted free agents, and 21 unsigned players are participating, hoping to earn a contract and an invite to training camp. Among those 21 tryout players is undrafted Rice safety Gabe Taylor — the younger brother of legendary Washington safety Sean Taylor. Taylor was arguably the most interesting player at the rookie minicamp due to his ties to the franchise and fan interest surrounding him and his story.
Head coach Dan Quinn, first-round pick Josh Conerly Jr. and second-round pick Trey Amos all spoke with the media after practice.
