We’re only a quarter through the 2025 NFL season, and the Buffalo Bills have already opened up a two-game lead in the AFC East. With the Jets still looking for their first win, and the Dolphins still at 1-3, the Patriots are the only non-Buffalo team in the division that isn’t below .500. Let’s take a deeper look at how the Week 5 AFC East Power Rankings shake out.

#1 Buffalo Bills (4-0)

No surprise here as the Bills won 31-19 against the winless Saints. Josh Allen hasn’t had to do much to carry the team (yet) this season, as James Cook has been an absolute beast and is second in the NFL in rushing yards. The only question now seems to be how early the Bills will clinch the division.

#2 New England Patriots (2-2)

New England should probably be 3-1, but your record is what it is, so they sit at .500 after beating the Panthers 42-13 in Week 4. Drake Maye looks to be taking a big second-year leap, and Stefon Diggs has started to emerge as the WR1 for New England. Can the Patriots get above .500 for the first time this year?

#3 Miami Dolphins (1-3)

The Dolphins finally got their first win of the season on Monday Night Football as they took down the Jets 27-21. It came at a high cost, however, as Tyreek Hill will now miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane will need to step up in his absence, and the Dolphins will look to duct tape together production from players like Darren Waller and Malik Washington.

#4 New York Jets (0-4)

The Jets haven’t been as bad as their record indicates, but they still sit at 0-4 today after losing 27-21 to Miami on Monday Night Football. Justin Fields and Breece Hall had solid bounce-back games, while Garrett Wilson continued his hot start with another touchdown. The Jets will now host the 1-2-1 Cowboys in Week 5.

The outcome of the Bills-Patriots showdown on Sunday Night Football could make this division a lot more interesting, or it could give the Bills a three-game lead in the division. Miami will look to get to 2-3 as they visit the Carolina Panthers, while the Jets will look to find their first win as they host the Cowboys and their league-worst defense.
