For the 121st time in the 125-year history of the Red River Rivalry, Texas and Oklahoma will square off once again.

Not only is Texas-OU one of the most special rivalries in all of college football, it’s also been played in our backyard at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas virtually every year since the 1910s.

The teams squared off for the first time in 1900 with the game location swapping between Austin and Oklahoma for the first 12 years of its existence. The move to Dallas would become permanent in 1929. Since then, every Texas-OU matchup has been played at the Cotton Bowl, with the exception of the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game between the two teams in Arlington.

A few, though not many, college football rivalries can say they’ve been playing each other longer than Texas-Oklahoma. None can boast the flash, star power and tradition of when the seas of burnt orange and crimson pour into the Cotton Bowl in mid-October.
