The Kingsburg Vikings football team earned their third straight win and moved to 4-2 on the season following a 35-28 win over the Washington Union Panthers on Oct. 3 in Easton.
Kingsburg raced out to an early 14-0 lead before Washington Union came back to take a 21-20 lead in the third quarter. The teams traded touchdowns but a late touchdown by Kingsburg in the fourth quarter gave them the win.
The Vikings took a 7-0 lead after a nine-yard rushing touchdown by Drew Lunde with six minutes left in the first quarter. They extended their lead to 14-0 later in the quarter after a 17-yard touchdown pass from Kade Holt to Jackson Leibee. The Vikings held a 14-7 halftime lead.
Washington Union scored early in the third quarter to tie the game at 14. Kingsburg took a 20-14 lead after a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown by Cooper Holt with seven minutes to go in the third quarter. Washington Union then scored on the ensuing posession to take a 21-20 lead, before Kingsburg took a 28-21 lead after a 14-yard touchdown run by Leibee.
After the Panthers tied the game at 28 with six minutes to go in the game, Cooper Holt returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to give the Vikings a 34-28 lead. They held on for the win.
The Vikings will now play Central Valley Christian High School on Friday, Oct. 10 in Visalia.
Selma Football
The Selma Bears football team fell to 1-5 this season following a 28-0 loss to Immanuel High School on Oct. 3 in Reedley.
The Bears will host Hanford West High on Friday, Oct. 10 in Selma.
