The New England Patriots‘ defense deserved more credit than it got in their Sunday Night Football showdown with the Buffalo Bills.
Veteran cornerback Marcus Jones had one of the highlight plays of the night in securing a diving interception on a Josh Allen pass late in the third quarter. The play came when the Bills were driving in the red zone. Jones jumped the route and made an incredible play on the ball to secure the pick.

That play came a week after Jones was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He has strung together a couple of standout performances for the Patriots’ defense. The timing couldn’t be any better with him currently playing in the final year of his rookie contract.
The return of Christian Gonzalez has the Patriots’ defensive backfield looking significantly improved.
So much of the talk has surrounded the tandem of Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III. But Jones is proving he deserves to be in that conversation as well.
