The Indianapolis Colts announced that they have placed cornerback Mike Hilton on the practice squad injured reserve.
Hilton will now have to miss a minimum of four games before being eligible to return.
Hilton exited the Colts‘ Week 5 win over the Las Vegas Raiders early on with a shoulder injury.
He was signed to the Colts’ practice squad prior to the Week 4 game against the LA Rams, and had been elevated to the game day roster in each of the last two weeks.
Without Kenny Moore, who is working through an Achilles injury, Hilton handled the starting nickel duties.
Against the Rams, Hilton allowed two receptions on three targets for a total of seven yards, according to PFF.
After Hilton left Sunday’s game, Chris Lammons took over at the nickel and will likely continue to do so until Moore returns.
Along with placing Hilton on the practice squad IR, kicker Spencer Shrader was placed on IR as well, and the Colts signed kicker Michael Badgley to replace him.
With an opening on the practice squad with Hilton on IR, the team signed cornerback Troy Pride Jr. to bolster their overall depth.
