Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, through just the first five games of his college football season, has worked his way into conversations he only dreamed of last season.
Â

Â
Simpson currently has the third-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy (+750), only behind Oregon quarterback Dante Moore (+500) and Miami quarterback Carson Beck (+600). He’s completed 70.3% of his passes for 1,478 yards (16th in NCAA) and 13 touchdowns on the season (8th in NCAA). He’s also added 51 yards and two scores on the ground as he’s led Alabama to a 4-1 record to start the season.
Â
It’s every player’s dream to play in the NFL, and at Alabama, that dream often becomes a reality, with Alabama putting 82 players into the NFL in the first round alone. Quarterback Ty Simpson hopes to be the latest of several Alabama quarterbacks taken in the first round of the NFL draft (Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, and Bryce Young are the three most recent first-round quarterbacks out of Alabama).
Â
Simpson may be working his way into the conversation, with a handful of NFL reporters mentioning him in the first-round talk over the weekend.
Â
Â
CBS Sports NFL draft analyst Ryan Wilson had Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson drafted in the first round, being selected No. 24 overall by the Los Angeles Rams.
Â
Wilson also had Kadyn Proctor drafted in the first round, going to the Houston Texans with the 16th overall pick.
