Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles will take the field for a Week 6 NFC East matchup against Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants on Thursday night.
Hurts and the Eagles just suffered their first loss of the 2025 NFL season, falling 21-17 to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Giants are also fresh off a loss, falling to the previously-winless Saints in Dart’s second career start.
The Giants selected Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. During his time in college, the former Ole Miss standout identified Hurts as a quarterback he hopes to emulate at the NFL level.
“I think it’s a little bit of a cop-out because he just won the Super Bowl, but I love J Hurts and what he does,” Dart said at the NFL combine in February. “I feel like I’m very similar in my play style to him. I feel like we can do a lot of the same things.
“Obviously, he’s an elite player and I’m trying to reach that level. But he’s been somebody that I’ve tried to resemble my game after just because of his versatility — being able to run and throw the ball, and just how strong he is in the pocket. That’s something that I’ve had a lot of fun watching, observing his play style.”
Hurts was asked about those comments ahead of Thursday night’s primetime matchup.
“I got a lot of respect for his game. I know he’s played for (Lane) Kiffin. He’s a hell of a player. He’s honestly in a great situation to learn a lot. Rooting for his success,” Hurts said, via team insider Zach Berman of The Athletic.

Dart made his first career start in Week 4, taking over for veteran QB Russell Wilson. In that 21-18 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, the rookie signal caller recorded 111 yards and one touchdown through the air and 54 yards and another score on the ground.
In Sunday’s loss to the Saints, Dart threw for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while gaining another 55 yards with his legs.
Thursday night’s game will kickoff at 8:15 p.m. ET.
