The Cleveland Browns are the newest NFL franchise to forge ahead with plans for a spectacular new stadium.
Multiple NFL teams are eyeing fresh stadium construction over the coming years. The Washington Commanders recently secured approval for their plans following Donald Trump’s challenge to the franchise, while the Chicago Bears are also moving forward with their project.
But the Browns have actually broken ground on their new $3.4 billion venue. The AFC North team has kicked off planning for what will be Northeast Ohio’s most massive private development undertaking in history.

The path to construction hasn’t been without obstacles. The blueprints faced setbacks when Ohio’s transportation officials expressed worries about the proposed structure’s height, concerned that the 221-foot stadium might severely interfere with air traffic given its closeness to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
In August, the Ohio Department of Transportation turned down a permit application. But a recent Browns challenge proved victorious, and authorization was granted, enabling the team to proceed with their vision.
The fresh stadium will require $2.4 billion for construction, with another $1 billion earmarked for private development. Construction has officially commenced, and supporters were thrilled by the renderings.

“Looks great. I hope they can pull it off,” one commented. Another shared: “Wait, this looks incredible.”
Yet others expressed annoyance. “So, a 26 yr old stadium Huntington bank field is considered archaic now… What a waste of money…..,” one posted.
The Browns have been calling Huntington Bank Field home since 1999. The stadium, owned by the Cleveland City Council, has a seating capacity of 67,431.
However, news of a new venue has left some fans less than thrilled.
“Abject disaster for the community and state that includes stealing 600 million dollars from Ohio citizens,” one disgruntled fan posted. Another chimed in: “Such a monumental downgrade from their current stadium on the lakefront. This new one doesn’t even look like a football stadium. Dame shame what greed has done to our great sport. Sad.
“God this is b——- they are ALL THE SAME S—…dome/retractable roof, giant video board, and giant windows. It’s lazy and looks like s—, and the fan experience as we know it will be ruined by these very stadiums…and very soon everybody will have them,” another fan vented.
However, some fans found humor in the situation. One quipped, “Will there be a team that shows up to play on the field?” while another joked: “Great, quite beautiful actually, one problem, does new new stadium and facilities come with the current ownership and head coach? They have a propensity for mediocrity, so why not upgrade them also?”
The Browns’ season hasn’t exactly been a roaring success so far. Apart from a surprising victory over the Green Bay Packers, marked by a dismal offense and a stellar defense, the Browns have had a rough time.
Even a change in quarterback and a trip across the pond to London resulted in the franchise slipping to a 1-4 record.
The Browns are gearing up for their next showdown against the 3-1 Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium this coming Sunday, Oct. 12.
