Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones deactivated his social media accounts after receiving a heap of criticism for his effort during the Jaguars’ game-winning touchdown in Kansas City’s 31-28 loss to Jacksonville on “Monday Night Football.”
The Jaguars won the game in the final seconds of the fourth quarter on a run by Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, where he had his foot stepped on as he took the snap, got himself off the ground and managed to run into the end zone.

Jones was lallygagging along the line, thinking that the play had been over and that Lawrence had been taken down.

The heat he got following the play might have been too much for the six-time Pro Bowler, and he deactivated his accounts.
Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked about the decision by Jones to disconnect on Wednesday.

“Stay off [social media] as much as possible and if you’re going to be on it, use it as motivation more than anything,” Mahomes told reporters.
Head coach Andy Reid did not want to comment on the social media issue, but he did address Jones’ effort.

“You can’t think that the guy is down. You can’t think that,” Reid said Wednesday. “You have to play the play. He knows. He’s been around this a long time. That’s really what it came down to.”

Jones had said following the loss that he thought the Chiefs had Lawrence stopped “multiple times” during that play.
“We’ve just got to finish,” he said. “We’ve got to finish. Multiple guys there that we’ve just got to finish that play. It was a fluke play for him to be able to break that many tackles. Yeah, I put it on us as a defense. We’ve got to finish.”
