Former Colorado football star Travis Hunter is making friends everywhere he goes.

The recent No. 2 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft and reigning Heisman Trophy winner apparently made quite the impression on a recent flight with United Airlines, as he sat next to a civilian who shared her exchanges with Hunter on social media.

“I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver,” Sandy Hawkins Combs wrote on Facebook. “I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no ma’am.’ Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson—so polite.”

Combs continued her message by noting fans were coming up to Hunter and congratulating him on being drafted to the Jacksonville Jaguars, although she didn’t recognize him. She asked “are you an athlete?” and Hunter responded, “I’m Travis, I was drafted by the Jags.”

Combs attached a photo with Hunter from their seat on the flight in the post.

“He’s so humble and down-to-earth—I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete,” the post continued. “JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets. United Airlines, thank you for my seat assignment!”

Hunter recently attended his graduation at Colorado, after starring for the Buffaloes for two seasons. He majored in psychology and was named the Academic All-American of the Year in 2024 after being a first-team Academic All-American in 2023.

On top of his accomplishments in the classroom, he also left college as one of the most-decorated players ever, winning multiple national player of the year awards, a Heisman and a Biletnikoff.

Hunter, who’s poised to play both receiver and defensive back for the Jaguars, is already off to a hot start as he begins his professional career.
