The NFL is working toward a “reimagined” Pro Bowl this season and could announce more details in the coming weeks, according to a statement from the league obtained by The Athletic, and it will reportedly take place in the Super Bowl market.
“We’ve been working closely with ESPN, the player community and our partners on a reimagined Pro Bowl Games for this season,” the statement said. “We’ll share more in the coming weeks, but our focus is a best-in-class all-star event that celebrates the league’s top players, deepens fan engagement, and spotlights flag football — especially in light of confirming player participation in the LA28 Olympic Games.”
Details of the 2026 Pro Bowl remain unclear, but one potential change could be relocating the event to the Super Bowl market each year, according to a report from the Sports Business Journal. Super Bowl LX will be played on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Held annually to showcase the league’s top players, the Pro Bowl has struggled with fan and player engagement in recent years. In 2022, the league traded the traditional tackle football game between the NFC and AFC for a flag football game and skills competition.
Between 1970 and 2009, the Pro Bowl took place the week after the Super Bowl and for 30 consecutive years was held at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. In its current format, the Pro Bowl happens the week before the Super Bowl.
Six of the last eight Pro Bowls took place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas hosted the event in 2022 and 2023.
