STEELERS INJURY UPDATES

The Steelers have upgraded the status of cornerback Jalen Ramsey for Sunday’s game against the Browns.

Ramsey was initially listed as questionable to play against Cleveland on Friday. That day, he also made his first appearance with the team at practice after injuring his hamstring against the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland in Week 4.

Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III will not play against the Browns, the team announced on Friday.

Austin, who is dealing with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings, was ruled out due to injury after missing all three practice sessions this week. A combination of Scotty Miller and Roman Wilson are expected to replace Austin at wide receiver, alongside DK Metcalf.

The Steelers have signed wide receiver and punt returner Ke’Shawn Williams from their practice squad to their active roster, the team announced on Saturday.

Williams fills a slot on the Steelers’ 53-man active roster that had been vacant for two weeks. They replaced him on the practice squad by signing edge rusher K.J. Henry, who had most recently been with the Philadelphia Eagles.

THE LAST TIME

Two touchdown passes by Russell Wilson coupled with a dominant defensive performance led the Steelers to a 27-14 win over the Browns at Acrisure Stadium on Dec. 8, 2024.

The Steelers got revenge for a Week 12 loss in Cleveland and avoided being swept by the Browns for the first time since 1988. The Steelers forced three turnovers in the game. Two were off interceptions thrown by Jameis Winston and the other one came via a muffed punt by Kadarius Toney.

Kicker Dustin Hopkins also missed two makeable field goals and running back Jerome Ford lost five yards on a fourth-and-1 run from the Steelers’ 49-yard line. Cleveland was penalized nine times for 81 yards.

“I don’t believe the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns,” Winston said after the game. “I believe the Cleveland Browns beat the Cleveland Browns.”

STEELERS-BROWNS SERIES

The Steelers lead the all-time series against the Browns, 82-64-1. The Steelers have dominated the rivalry since 1999, but the Browns have done better in recent years, particularly when playing in Cleveland. The Steelers have won just once (2021) in Cleveland since 2018.

Playing in the Steel City has been a different story. The Browns haven’t won a regular season game in Pittsburgh since 2003 (21-game losing streak).
