Howie Roseman has never shied away from making an aggressive move, whether that moves comes in free agency or on the trade market. Each and every year, he is willing to do whatever it takes for the Philadelphia Eagles to be the best contender they can possibly be.

No one should expect this year to be any different.

Following the last two weeks of losses, the Eagles clearly could use some help. They are a contender, but there are obvious holes that need to be filled. It’s very clear that the defense needs more in order to be an elite unit.

With that being said, the NFL trade deadline is coming up quickly. Could Philadelphia be an aggressive buyer leading up to it?

Howie Roseman, Philadelphia Eagles

That is exactly what one NFL insider has suggested. Roseman seems likely to be very active in trade discussions in the coming weeks.

NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo believe that the Eagles could be a team to watch as a buyer for defensive talent at two different positions.

“Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has never met a trade he wouldn’t consider, and don’t be surprised if he looks for some help on defense,” they wrote. “A cornerback or edge would make sense.”

Early this season, the talk surrounding the Eagles has had to do with Jalen Hurts not getting along with A.J. Brown once again. Saquon Barkley has been used much less than he was last season as well. The offense has not looked to be on the same page.

However, the defensive side of the football simply hasn’t looked good enough. Philadelphia has good talent defensively, but it needs help in the secondary and getting to the quarterback. There are a few players at both cornerback and on the edge who could make sense for the Eagles before the trade deadline.

One of the bigger names who has been connected to Philadelphia is Cincinnati Bengals star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. That trade would take a lot to get done, but it’s the kind of move that Roseman would likely love to make. In the secondary, the Eagles could simply dip into the free agency market for a player like Stephon Gilmore or Asante Samuel Jr.

Expect to continue hearing rumors swirl around in Philadelphia. Roseman and the Eagles are clearly needing some help. Don’t be surprised if he goes out before the trade deadline and makes a move or two.
