International NFL fans have been blessed with two pretty good games to kick off the 2025 season. Then, the New York Jets came to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
In one of the weakest games of the year so far, the Denver Broncos outlasted the Jets 13-11 in Week 6.

The game was defined by offensive struggles. Both teams seemed to key on each other’s running game, as both J.K Dobbins and Breece Hall were limited to under three yards per carry.
That put the pressure on Justin Fields and Bo Nix to lead the charge. While Nix had some positive moments, they were few and far between. He finished with 174 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Fields, however, was much, much worse. The 26-year-old was limited to just 45 yards passing. Many of the issues Fields showed early in his career showed up in the game. When asked to pass, Fields held the ball far too long, taking nine sacks. That was the same number of passes he completed during the contest. He rarely pushed the ball down the field and wasn’t very accurate when he got passes off.

It didn’t help that Fields’ No. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson was blanketed by Patrick Surtain all day. Wilson was limited to three catches for 13 yards. Without him, the Jets’ offense looked completely hapless.
Despite that, the Jets still had an opportunity to win the game late. After forcing a punt, New York got the ball back with 2:23 left to go. At the time, the Jets had zero net passing yards.
After two runs got the Jets down to the two-minute warning. Fields took a sack close to field-goal range. He got some yards back on the next play, finding Wilson to make it third-and-8. Fields attempted to find Wilson on the next play, but the pass was off target and knocked out of Wilson’s hands.

With the Jets facing either a 61-yard field goal or a fourth-and-8, head coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it. Fields was sacked again, ending the game.
While the Jets’ defense played well, it was a day to forget for New York. Now six games into the Glenn era, the Jets appear even more lost than ever. Poor coaching decisions — like the team’s awful two-minute drill in the second quarter — and Fields’ lack of development are both ill omens going forward.
It’s unclear whether it can get much worse. At 0-6, the Jets are the only winless team in the NFL. With the playoffs basically out of the picture, New York is already playing for next year.

Replacing Fields seems obvious at this point. Whether Glenn should be the man tasked with finding — and coaching — that replacement will be the bigger question for New York the rest of the way.
