The Green Bay Packers are working out a trio of edge rushers who could be practice squad candidates, including a recent third-round pick. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Packers will host a workout for Andrew Farmer, D.J. Johnson and Jeremiah Moon on Tuesday.
A signing to the practice squad could make sense after the Packers released Deslin Alexandre from the practice squad last week. Matt LaFleur’s team is also dealing with a new injury to Lukas Van Ness, the defense’s top backup behind Micah Parsons and Rashan Gary, and edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr. is currently on injured reserve.

Farmer (6-4, 250) went undrafted out of Lane College in 2023. He played in eight games with the Los Angeles Chargers during the 2023 season and then spent the 2024 offseason and training camp with the Denver Broncos, who waived him on Aug. 25.
Johnson (6-3, 260) was a third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in the 2023 draft. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds at 260 pounds coming out of Oregon. Johnson played in 31 games for the Panthers, including four this season, before being released on Sept. 30. Over 677 total snaps, Johnson produced 0.5 sacks, four pressures and 26 stops, including 23 against the run.
Moon (6-5, 247) went undrafted out of Florida in 2022. He spent his rookie season on the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens and then played in eight games with the Ravens in 2023 and 13 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024. Moon produced 21 tackles, two forced fumbles, one tackle for loss and three pressures. He’s also played almost 400 career special teams snaps, and he made eight nine total tackles covering kicks and punts.
Fourth-year edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare is reportedly a trade candidate ahead of the deadline, so the Packers have a lot of moving parts at defensive end in terms of injuries and future considerations.
