News of Smith retiring was broken by Smith himself on Monday. The Eagles were already in need of edge rusher help before Smith retired. Now they are looking really thin at that position.
For those wondering, Smith retiring effectively works like the Eagles cutting him from a financial perspective. The Eagles still own his rights should he decide to unretire.
Smith going on reserve/retired means the Eagles now have an open roster spot to fill.
TCF had some good moments in the preseason before getting hurt. Presumably now healthy, TCF is joining the Eagles’ practice squad. TCF offers size and NFL experience (albeit limited) to give the Eagles more depth at outside cornerback.
Ricks has bounced on and off the Eagles’ practice squad all season long.

Perhaps Estimé wants to find a team where he has a better path to playing time. He was RB5 on the Eagles behind Saquon Barkley, A.J. Dillon, Will Shipley, and Tank Bigsby.
