Six games into the 2025 season, the Houston Texans are already in win-now mode from here on out until the season’s end.

The Texans are 2-3 and remain on the outside of the conversation of the AFC postseason chatter this season. Currently, the Indianapolis Colts lead the charge in the AFC South with a 5-1 record following their win over the Arizona Cardinals. Behind the Daniel Jones-led roster sit the Jacksonville Jaguars at 4-2, while the Texans slide in at No. 3 and Tennessee falls in line at 1-5.

“A lot of teams had a lot of really good starts to the season. But we all know, and it’s our focus, it’s all about how you finish the season. It’s all about how your team grows throughout the season,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said ahead of Week 7’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. “Just because you have a great start doesn’t mean it’s going to be a great finish. You just continue to work, control what you can control and you truly focus on one game at a time. That’s all that matters. You can’t focus on what the other teams are doing, the outcome of their games. It really doesn’t matter.”

Seven teams will represent the AFC in the playoffs, with four division winners and three wild-card teams. If the season ended today, the Texans wouldn’t just miss the playoffs, but rather be three games out of the final wild-card spot behind the Denver Broncos.

Here’s a look at how things stand going into Week 7:

Kansas City, sitting at 3-3, would hold the lead over the Texans, who appear at No. 9 in the AFC rankings. Up next for Houston is a road test against potentially playoff-bound Seattle at Lumen Field on Monday Night Football.

Seattle, which secured a win over the Jaguars on Sunday, would clinch the No. 5 seed with a 4-2 record as it only trails San Francisco in the NFC West division.
