ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – It’s Week 7, and Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson has already notched another award under his belt.
After contributing mightily to the team’s 24-14 upset over the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Robinson was named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week by the NFL on Wednesday.
Previously, Robinson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September.
Robinson totaled a career-best 238 yards from scrimmage rushing for 170 yards and a touchdown while recording six receptions for 68 yards.
The touchdown in question? An 81-yard house call. It’s the longest run of Robinson’s career thus far and the longest by any player this season.
Additionally, his 238 scrimmage yards were the most by a running back on Monday Night Football since Joe Morris in 1986. He has recorded at least 100 scrimmage yards in every game this season, and his 822 total through five games are the most by any player in Falcons history, and the fourth-most by any player in the Super Bowl era over that span.
The NFL also recognized Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes with the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for his standout performance, where he threw four touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 30–17 victory over the Detroit Lions.
The Falcons will visit the 49ers in San Francisco this Sunday for a primetime matchup at Levi’s Stadium.
