The Atlanta Falcons’ offense is one of the most explosive in the NFL, and much of that credit belongs to superstar running back Bijan Robinson.
Robinson is yet to record less than 100 yards in a game this season. He is coming off his top performance of the season in an upset Week 6 victory against the Buffalo Bills, where he recorded 238 total yards and a touchdown.
Although Tyler Allgeier is a solid backup, he is mostly used in short-yardage and goal line situations. Trading for a potentially available receiving threat RB would give Atlanta a phenomenal 1-2 punch in the backfield alongside quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
Can the Falcons Nab RB Alvin Kamara From the Struggling New Orleans Saints?
Despite QB Spencer Rattler commanding the New Orleans Saints’ offense at a solid level, the team still has a record of 1-5.
This should be a wake-up call for the front office to hit the reset button, which means trading away bigger contracts and veteran stars. That includes RB Alvin Kamara, who is in the first season of a two-year, $24.5 million contract.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox predicts the Saints could send Kamara to the Falcons in exchange for a conditional 2026 fourth-round pick.
“The 30-year-old is a versatile dual-threat who has had a storied career in New Orleans,” Knox wrote. “However, the Saints have been giving real opportunities to third-year back Kendre Miller this year and could be open to moving Kamara. There’s a chance the five-time Pro Bowler would be a cap casualty next offseason anyway.”
To add to Knox’s point, Miller had just two fewer carries than Kamara in their Week 6 loss against the New England Patriots. It is, however, worth noting the latter has a significantly higher impact score from PFSN at 75.7 compared to the former’s score of 69.4. This is entirely understandable, as Kamara is having a solid campaign with 436 total yards thus far.
It’s worth pointing out Kamara doesn’t want to be dealt by New Orleans, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Although the Saints are receiving calls about him, the 30-year-old is making it clear he hopes to stay put.
“While New Orleans will continue to get calls — and time will tell how receptive they are to trading starters — Kamara isn’t expected to go anywhere,” Rapoport reported. “Sources say Kamara told Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he’d like to remain with the franchise through the rest of his career, which was the goal when he signed a two-year, $24.5 million extension last October. Kamara is signed through 2026 and will have a decision to make prior to next season about if he wants to continue playing.”
