For many years, the matchup between the Vols and Raiders was in the first, or the week zero spot, of the slate.
This year, Starkville Academy will host Lamar School in its eighth game of the season. It will be outing number nine for the Raiders.
It is the first time since Chase Nicholson has been the head coach of the Vols that the Lamar game has not come in week three or earlier except for 2014 when the two teams played in the last round of the playoffs.
One of the reasons for the later meeting is because the teams are now members of MAIS Class 4A, District 2.
