Tory Horton continued the Mountain West’s good fortune in the NFL Draft by getting selected on Day 3. He was drafted in the end of the 5th round (pick #30) by the Seattle Seahawks,
Horton was the star wide receiver for the Colorado State Rams, breaking out in 2022 after following head coach Jay Norvell over from Nevada. During that season, he accumulated 71 receptions, 1131 receiving yards, and 8 touchdowns. Horton matched that in 2023 with near identical stats. He decided to return for one last season, but was only able to play in six games in 2024 due to a season-ending injury.
For his college career, Horton totaled 265 receptions, 3615 receiving yards, and 27 receiving touchdowns. He was also a dynamic special-teams punt returner, with three returns for touchdowns over his three seasons as a Ram.
The Seahawks are getting a proven college playmaker, capable of being a deep threat and putting up a lot of yards after the catch. While his experiences are primarily in an air-raid passing scheme, his skill set will allow him to succeed in an NFL offense. With his experiences on special teams, Horton should be able to benefit a team right away. He has a good chance to earn meaningful snaps and a role on the offense immediately.
