Syracuse, N.Y. — Wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons is expected to be active against Pittsburgh.

Ross-Simmons, who sprained his ankle in Syracuse’s loss to Southern Methodist, avoided an inactive designation on Saturday’s injury report. He spent warmups testing his ankle with quality control coach Josh Gattis.

Syracuse, after weeks of anticipation, is expected to have freshman wide receiver Darius Johnson for the first time this season, too.

Saturday marked the first time he wasn’t listed as out this season, and he participated in warmups.

However, redshirt senior wide receiver Umari Hatcher is in street clothes and won’t play, despite not being listed on the availability report. Hatcher has not played since Colgate and was replaced by freshmen Darien Williams and Daunte Bacheyie on the travel squad.

Thursday’s availability report listed offensive linemen TJ Ferguson and Trevion Mack, along with linebacker Gary Bryant III as questionable for Syracuse.

Defensive backs Demetres Samuel Jr., Chris Peal and Devin Grant along with defensive linemen Denis Jaquez Jr. and Kevin Jobity Jr. were listed as probable. Wide receiver Johntay Cook II and tight end Dan Villari were also probable.

All 10 of those players are expected to be available for the Orange Saturday after warming up.

Pitt’s star running back, Desmond Reid, is considered a game-time decision to play.
